Privacy Policy
Hatchling Makes is a UK based small business and I want you to feel confident and happy whilst you’re on my website. I will never trade, sell or rent email lists with any other businesses or share your details in any way. I know how irritating those cold calls and spam e-mails can be. This Privacy Policy details all the information regarding how I do use your information, when and why I collect it, any reasons why I might have to disclose it (i.e., for legal or tax purposes) and how I keep it safe from others seeing it. It might not be the most exciting part of my website, but it’s the most important!
Cookies
The cookies on my website are, sadly, not edible. They are text files that are in place for you to move around my website more easily. It means you don’t have to keep entering your account details or closing pop-ups as you’re browsing my website.
I use these cookies to see what pages are being clicked on the most, what products are being added to baskets and how you’ve found my website (i.e., Google search, Instagram/Twitter link). This in turn helps me to see what products to use in my marketing.
I cannot see any personal information about you or your computer from a cookie.
Google Analytics
When you visit www.hatchlingmakes.com some details about how you’ve found me, or what pages you’ve viewed are collected by Google Analytics. This shows me how many people are on my website at a particular time and for how long.
Neither Google nor I can see any personal information that would identify you in any way through this. And I do not allow Google to make any attempts to find out your identity though any of the data collected.
VIP Newsletter
I use Klavyio to contact my VIP list and send them updates and news. As a part of this I require a little bit of personal information from you to complete your registration. This is so that I can;
- Send you the e-mails that you signed up for
- Check my records are correct and that you are still happy to continue hearing from me
I’ll never sign you up to my newsletter without your express consent and I’ll never share, trade or rent your details to any other business for them to contact you.
Klaviyo collects some data to help me improve my content and monitor my newsletter, including some statistics on how many times my newsletter has been opened and links clicked on. Please read Klaviyo's Privacy Policies to find out more.
You can always unsubscribe from my e-newsletter at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every e-mail or contacting me at tash@hatchlingmakes.com and putting "UNSUBSCRIBE" in the e-mail subject line.
Using my contact form
When you use my contact form you'll be asked for your name and e-mail address. This information is sent to my e-mail inbox so that I can answer any question or query you may have. I use gMail as I trust it has the best privacy setting for your details.
I will only ever contact you to answer any questions or queries you may have. I will never contact you or save these details for anything else.
When you make an order
When you purchase something from my shop I have a little dance! But I also have to collect a few details from you in order to fulfil and ship your order. These include;
- Your name
- Your address
- Your e-mail address
- Your credit card information/Method of payment
I have an automated setup which will send you a confirmation e-mail of your order once you have purchased and another e-mail will be sent to you when your order has been boxed up and sent off, including any relevant tracking information. You will then receive an e-mail from me asking if you loved your order as part of an automated flow with Klaviyo.
If you have ordered a personalised or commissioned piece I may need to contact you via e-mail to discuss your order. I will never ever contact you for reasons other than that.
I use PayPal as a payment option because I believe it offers the best protection for you. If you choose to use PayPal to pay for your order they may also have access to your details as per their Privacy Policy. You can read PayPal’s policy here.
My website is hosted by Shopify, which is specifically designed for e-commerce. If you choose to pay with a credit card they have access to some of your details so that they can pass it onto me, as per their Privacy Policy. You can read Shopify’s policy here.
I use Royal Mail as a mail carrier and they partner with local mail carriers across the globe (USPS, Canada Post, Australia Post, etc). In order for your package to get to you safely I have to clearly write your name and address on the front. I will never ever give them any other information other than to make sure your items get to you safely!
